Meet The ASU Baseball Camp Coaches

Willie Bloomquist

Head Coach

Willie Bloomquist, a 14-year MLB veteran and ASU legend, was named head coach of the Sun Devil baseball program in 2021. A former Pac-10 Player of the Year, he ranks among ASU’s all-time leaders and was the first Sun Devil to play for the Arizona Diamondbacks, later serving in their front office. Off the field, he’s been active in community work, co-founding the Abe and Mac Fund for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and was inducted into both the ASU Sports Hall of Fame and CoSIDA Academic All-America Hall of Fame.

Sam Peraza

Recruiting Coordinator

Sam Peraza, formerly the associate head coach and pitching coach at San Diego State, has been named the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for Sun Devil Baseball under head coach Willie Bloomquist. A proven developer of talent, Peraza has coached nine All-Americans, five conference Pitchers of the Year, and 17 MLB Draft picks, while also building nationally ranked recruiting classes at SDSU and Florida International. His extensive coaching career includes conference championships, elite pitching staffs, and successful stops at programs across the country.

Jeremy Accardo

Pitching Coach

On June 27, 2024, Sun Devil Baseball and head coach Willie Bloomquist named 18-year professional player and coaching veteran Jeremy Accardo as the program’s pitching coach. A Mesa, Ariz. native, Accardo brings extensive experience from the professional ranks, most recently serving as the Triple-A pitching coach for the Milwaukee Brewers’ Nashville Sounds, and previously holding roles in the Mets organization, including assistant MLB pitching coach. Known for his expertise in analytics and player development, Accardo will lead ASU’s pitching efforts using cutting-edge technology at the Whiteman Family Performance Center, while fellow coach Sam Peraza remains on staff as an assistant and recruiting coordinator.

Mike Goff

Assistant Coach

Mike Goff, with 35 years of coaching experience including nearly three decades in professional baseball, returns to the Sun Devil dugout as an assistant coach. He spent 16 years with the Seattle Mariners, serving as both bench and first base coach, and later held MLB coaching roles with the Marlins, while also managing in the Reds and Giants organizations. A highly respected figure in player development, Goff played a key role in the rise of future stars like Felix Hernandez, David Ortiz, and Justin Turner, and previously coached current Sun Devil head coach Willie Bloomquist during his time with the Mariners.

Dan Jaffe

Director of Operations & Analytics

Dan Jaffe enters the 2024 season as Sun Devil Baseball’s Director of Baseball Operations and Analytics after serving as a volunteer assistant coach last year. He previously served as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at Pacific, producing the program’s first-ever back-to-back Top-100 recruiting classes and mentoring two MLB Draft picks. Jaffe brings a wealth of experience in scouting, player development, and analytics, having also coached at Georgia Tech, Southern Nevada, and in the Cape Cod League.

Sean McSheffery

Director of Player Development

Sean McSheffery serves as Sun Devil Baseball’s Director of Player Development, overseeing recruiting organization, scouting reports, and the team’s camp program. He brings a diverse background in coaching and baseball operations, including head coaching stints at Hendrix University and work with the San Diego Padres’ minor league affiliates. Known for his sharp eye for talent and player development, McSheffery has been instrumental in guiding 20 players to the professional ranks.
